Excitement on Pitt Street!

Hey! Hey! Good to see you! What'cha been up to...that you can talk about? That may sound like an innocent, humorous question but..well, pour yourself a mug of coffee and nudge a virtual treat or two onto your plate. Then, c'mon back here to the VIP table so I can expound on that question "What'cha been up to...that you can talk about?"

You likely know that we live in the small, relatively quiet, city of Cornwall, Ontario...an hour or so from both Ottawa and Montreal, just across the bridge from New York State, USA and next to the Akwesasne Mohawk Reserve that is partly in Ontario and partly in New York. Yep...usually quiet apart from the occasional bridge blockade protest by the Akwesasne Mohawk Nation, Ribfest and the three-way hockey rivalry - Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators. Well this week we had some more excitement a couple blocks south on our street - Pitt Street.

Cedars on Wheels (not to be confused with Cedars in Cornwall Square which has a different owner) is a dispensary of delicious Lebanese Shawarma) and is (I should say...was) a very popular local take-out restaurant.

We go past it on our daily walks and there were always people waiting for take-out. It appeared to be doing well. But remember the question "What'cha been up to...that you can talk about?" The answer lies in this excerpt from a story in the city's Standard-Freeholder June 4, 2015 edition "Sting nets 107 charged"...a portion of which is shown in the picture on the left.

Allegedly, the people involved in the restaurant were engaged in more than food take-out!

Incidentally, Cedars on Wheels was located right across the street from....wait for it...Police Headquarters here in Cornwall. That should not in any way reflect on our police services but was rather cheeky nevertheless, eh!

Welcome to 2015 reality because these days...you never know, do you?

See ya, eh!

Bob
